Spot recommended by Porto Secret Spots

In Gaia, in the heart of Serra do Pilar, there's a century-old building that passes almost unnoticed in the landscape: it's the Instituto Geofísico da Universidade do Porto.
Created in 1885 behind the Serra do Pilar Monastery, the Institute keeps two secrets from the crowd:

A seismic station built in 1962 by the United States of America, officially for "scientific research", but which put Porto on the Cold War map between the two superpowers.

And the fact that it is the only place on earth from where you can see all 6 bridges linking Gaia to Porto, from Arrábida to Freixo.

Come and learn about earthquakes and nuclear tests and discover the American lie that marked this history.
